Growth Mindset vs Fixed Mindset
As a teacher, I have repeatedly witnessed the power of a growth mindset versus a fixed mindset in the classroom.
Students who have developed a growth mindset come to class curious, open, and excited to learn. They understand that trying, making "mistakes", regrouping, and trying again is a part of the learning process.
Is Alcohol an Obstacle?
If you read last week's post, you might recall that I believe sugar is the most common obstacle preventing people from achieving optimal health. I thought about another prevalent obstacle as I viewed a youngster on the Malecón sporting an "Espresso then Prosecco" t-shirt: alcohol.
Is it "Spiritual" to Love Your Body?
If you are alive and connected to the internet you have no doubt been inundated with advice about what to do with/about your body.
Love your body. Listen to your body. Know your body. Respect your body. Treat your body. Shake your body. Transform your body.
The Practice of Reframing
About a week before leaving for Mexico I met with my naturopath to review blood work results. It appeared that it was time to bring my estrogen and thyroid back into balance. I could either start hormone replacement therapy, or I could complete a detox protocol for six weeks to restore hormonal harmony naturally. I chose the second option.
Embrace Your Desires
Today I would like to share with you a conversation I had with my fabulous Coach Ginny. I brought up a desire that felt confusing. I feared that this particular desire was driven by my ego, therefore I was trying to suppress and resist it.
Releasing Perfection
I had a very small window today to complete my Primal Kitchen® Collagen Treats recipe book, write a blog post and record a podcast. I was quickly becoming frustrated with my inability to make my recipe book perfect. I was encountering so much resistance in the quest for perfection.
The Struggle is Real
Writing the word "struggle" in the title of this blog post was hard for me. I'm all about releasing the struggle, and I believe that my thoughts and words create my reality. But I had a realization that perhaps it is first necessary to acknowledge and sit with the struggle before you can begin to climb out of if.
Foraging and Fiddleheads
Today is the official start of our summer vacation- yay! Nothing signifies the start of summer like the emergence of the fiddleheads. I spent the morning in a delightfully meditative state, foraging for the special green beauties. My Alaskan friends and I agree: there is something deeply primal about heading out into the woods and gathering wild plants. It just feels right. It's also amazing to come home with bags full of nutrient dense vegetation.
Reframe to Transform
I have something very important to tell you today.
I know that radiant health is not only possible for you, but it is your natural state, your birthright.
Enjoy the Process
I was just out tending to my tapped birch trees: collecting the nutrient dense water, listening to the spring birds sing, enjoying the calming energy of the woods. It was exciting to see that the trees gave me exactly five gallons of water over night! I have been having so much fun collecting and bottling the water for fermentation. My goal is to produce champagne, and that will be exciting, but I'm definitely enjoying the whole process. If the champagne experiment fails, oh well!
